Going to Carl’s Last Wait Wait Taping in DC

Just a quick blog post… I am very excited, and a wee bit sad, that I will be going to Carl Kasell’s last taping of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! in Washington DC on May 15th. The live taping will be held at the Warner Theatre at 7:30 PM Eastern Time. If any of you guys will be at the live taping and want to meet up before the show, just send a tweet to @questionlp or contact me using the site’s Contact Me form.

Visiting NYC for the special Wait Wait Cinecast

First, I want to apologize greatly for not posting anything on this blog for months, particularly updates on the WWDTM Stats Page. Well, there have been several major and minor developments on the Stats Page. With that said, I had the awesome opportunity to see the Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! special cinecast event at the source, from the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, on 2 May 2013. Thanks to the gang, I was able to score a seat with a direct view of the Wait Wait set, and just a few rows back. This made up for the fact that I couldn’t meet with Peter, Carl, Paula, Tom or Mo before or after the show. Based on reports from friends that saw the cinecast screened at local theaters, they were able to see my distinctive blue jacket and ogreish build as the …

Attending a WWDTM Live Taping in Chicago

A few months ago, I decided that I wanted to go to a live taping of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! in Chicago on the week leading up the fifth birthday of the Stats Page going live to the public. So, I made plans with the staff of Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! and booked my flight and hotel rooms for most of that week. Thursday night, I walked over to Chase Tower (I had booked the hotel that was on the next block over) and went down to the lobby of the Auditorium in which the show is normally taped at. There were already a lot of fans queued up to get their tickets; so I joined the queue. When I got up to the table, I was marked down as a VIP and waited in the VIP area. Before the show, I …

WWDTM Live Taping

Tonight, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! came to Portland, Oregon for their third live taping of their show at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Being slightly obsessed with the show, I had to go and try to meet Peter Sagal, Carl Kasell and the gang. The seat that I got was about 9 rows back and had a great view of the stage. Before the show started, the audience was handed out a sheet of paper that had three questions that people would answer, fill in their name and hand back. More on this later. Tonight’s panelists were Peter Grosz, Roxanne Roberts and Roy Blount, Jr. (who has been one of panelists all three times that Wait Wait has been in Portland). Let’s just say that there were many, many hilarious moments and several not-so-PG jokes and comments; of which, only a few will probably …

WWDTM in Portland

This post is several days late, but… I have been an avid fan of NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! for several years, I had a chance to go to a recording session when they visited Portland, Oregon last Thursday. All I can say is that you miss out on a lot of the antics of the panelists and the interaction with the audience. Much of this is due to the fact that they can only squeeze in so much into about 50 minutes when they broadcast the show. For instance, the first listener round of questions lasted about 3 times longer than what was broadcasted, but what was cut out was just as interesting as the news items themselves. Then there was a bit about the Ficus tree that was on stage, which Peter had some fun with. Another piece that was completely …
